Confined Space Training Certification

Confined Space Training Certificate

Certification of Training for Confined Space Personnel

Federal OSHA confined space standards for construction (1926 Subpart AA) and General Industry (1910.146) require employers to provide affected workers involved in all phases of confined space entry operations with effective confined space training, and to certify the completion of all training provided by producing and maintaining a written certification of confined space training for each trainee. This documentation of confined space training applies to all training provided for confined space entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors at general industry and construction work sites with permit-required confined spaces, as well as training provided for the Competent Person at construction sites.

On Site Confined Space Training Certification

Our highly qualified confined space trainer will come to your site to conduct and certify a confined space training class for your group of employees. On site confined space training classes will be based on either the OSHA 1926 Subpart AA confined spaces for construction standards, or the 1910.146 permit-required confined space entry standards for general industry. All on site confined space training classes will be thoroughly documented to meet OSHA confined space certification requirements, and are available to employers located throughout the entire United States and all U.S. territories.

Online Confined Space Training Certification

Students also have the option to take one of our many comprehensive online confined space training courses. We have online courses for employees working as confined space entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, and the Competent Person working in the construction fields, as well as for confined space entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors working in general industry entry operations.

Sign up one student for an online confined space certification course, or use our free Learner Management System (LMS) to purchase multiple online confined space training courses, assign them to individual students, and track their status as they progress through their training. All online training courses are immediately available upon registration. Students can train at their own pace, logging in and out at any time, even from different computers / devices. Then, the student or their learner manager (where applicable) can print the student’s personalized training certification for confined space training upon successful completion of their course. This will serve as documentation to certify completion of their confined space training course.

Important Information About OSHA Confined Space Certification

Do not pay attention to advertisements that claim that taking their training course makes you “OSHA certified” to entered confined spaces, or that you will receive your “OSHA certification” as a confined space entrant, attendant, entry supervisor, or competent person. OSHA does not “certify” any person for confined space entry work, nor are you “OSHA certified” to enter confined spaces. OSHA merely requires the employer to provide all required confined space entry training to affected workers, and then certify that training was provided, as we do by providing students in our on site and online training courses with personalized certificates that certify that confined space training was conducted.

On-Site and Online Confined Space Certification Options

We offer both on-site and online confined space training certification. Our qualified trainer can come to your facility to conduct and certify a confined space training class for your group of employees, with classes based on either the 1926 Subpart AA construction standards or the 1910.146 general industry standards. Online students can take comprehensive courses for entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, and the Competent Person, training at their own pace and logging in and out at any time from different computers or devices. Upon successful completion, students can print their personalized training certification to document completion of their confined space training course.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What information must be included in confined space training certification records?
For construction work, 29 CFR 1926.1207(d) requires the employer to maintain training records containing each employee's name, the name of the trainers, and the dates of training. The documentation must be available for inspection by employees and their authorized representatives for the period of time the employee is employed by that employer. For general industry, 29 CFR 1910.146(g)(4) requires certification containing each employee's name, the signatures or initials of the trainers, and the dates of training.
What does confined space training certification mean under federal OSHA standards?
Under federal OSHA confined space standards for construction (29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA) and general industry (29 CFR 1910.146), employers are required to provide effective confined space training to affected workers and certify the completion of all training by producing and maintaining a written certification for each trainee. This certification documents that training was conducted, including the employee's name, trainer names, and training dates. OSHA does not certify individuals for confined space work; the employer certifies that it provided the required training.
What roles are covered in your online confined space training courses?
We have online courses for employees working as confined space entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, and the Competent Person working in the construction fields, as well as for confined space entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors working in general industry entry operations. We also offer a confined space hazard awareness course for workers who are not authorized to enter permit spaces or assist during entry operations.
When is confined space training required under OSHA regulations?
Training is required before an employee is first assigned confined space duties, before there is a change in assigned duties, whenever there is a change in permit space entry operations that presents a hazard about which an employee has not previously been trained, and whenever there is evidence of a deviation from entry procedures or inadequacies in the employee's knowledge or use of procedures. The training must establish employee proficiency in the duties required and introduce new or revised procedures as necessary.
